Slaves of righteousness
Romans 6:18-20
(For we are now alive in union with Christ, then we are no longer slaves of sin but we are now slaves of righteousness.)
At one time you were a slave of sin and you commited all of yourselves to indulge in wickedness and in sinful acts. Now that you have been set free, how hard is it to commit yourselves fully to righteousness?
Is it because you still desire what the world has to offer? Is it that you feel restricted by the law and by the word?
Choose to be intentional about seeking the kingdom and its righteousness. After all, we have been bought at a price and we no longer belong to ourselves for it is the Spirit of God who now lives in us. Therefore we should seek and hunger to live a life worthy of the price paid on the cross by our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
He did it all for the love he has for us and His grace poured over us. We received the Holy Spirit the day we accepted Jesus in our hearts as the Lord of our lives. He is called the helper. Jesus calls Him the helper. How often do you ask for His help?
We are given the Holy Spirit to be our helper for the one who sent Him to us knows that we can't do anything on our own. He knows that we need the Holy Spirit's counsel and strength in every aspect of our lives as believers. For Jesus lived as a human on this very earth and He knows all our weaknesses and all our shortcomings, so He made it clear that His departure at that time would be for our own good and benefit.
His departure meant that He would ever be closer to us for now the spirit of God lives in us. While on this earth, Jesus couldn't have reached everyone so when He departed, He sent the Holy Spirit to empower us and to give the authority to preach and to declare the good news to all nations and to all people.
Now that we know what it took and what it cost and the meaning of His death on the cross, can we still go on living our lives as if we have never known Him or the Father? Certainly not! Now that the Spirit of peace is within us, we should live to honor and glorify the name of our God in everything we do and the lives we live.
