God's will
Matthew 6:10
May your kingdom come; may your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
We all know the above verse from the Lord's prayer. When we pray, we ask God's will to be done in our lives. But the question I have for you is: Are you obedient enough?
When the world was plunged in wickedness and violence of all kinds, there was one man who had favor in the eyes of God. He didn't indulge in what the world around him was doing instead he remained obedient and faithful to the Lord.
Genesis 6:10
....He lived in fellowship with God.
Are you living in fellowship with God? Has the world made you turn your focus from God? Are you living according to the will of God for your life?
Noah was told to build an ark and he was given instructions on how to build it and also what number of each kind of animal would enter the ark.
God wanted to save Noah and his family and the animals from the destruction that was to come on planet earth.
So that implies that building the ark was God's will. It was His idea. And for this idea to be actuated, someone had to be obedient.
So we see how the obedience of Noah made it possible for the Earth to buzz with life again after the destruction from the flood.
Noah had to believe in God that what He says shall come to pass. He also had to be patient as he built the ark. He also had to work hard in order to build the ark.
James 2:26
So then, as the body without the spirit is dead, so also faith without action is dead.
It took Noah 120 years to build the ark. Everybody around him saw what he was doing and they probably thought he was crazy for he was building an ark on land!
Little did they know that that's how faith operates.
Through the obedience and the faith that Noah had, we see how God's mercy and grace was there in abundance. I'm pretty sure that if Noah didn't believe and obey God, God would have sent the flood right away and all life would have perished. But because of the obedience of one man, God gave everyone a chance to repent and turn from their wicked ways. There was a grace period of 120 years where anyone who would have chosen to repent and turn from their sins would have been saved but those people were so stubborn.
God's grace and mercy prevailed. 120 years are enough for news to travel around the world several times. That means everyone was given a chance to repent for everyone had had about the man who was building an ark on land.
The ark was 133 meters long, 22 meters wide and 13 meters high. That's huge. But the major reason why the people of that time didn't get to pause and look at the monumental structure and reconsider their ways, is because they had built larger idols for themselves. They already had allowed distractions to blind them from seeing the ark. And I will ask again; Has the world made you turn your focus from God?
As a Christian, we are to ask for the Holy Spirit through prayer to reveal the will of God for our lives. And through our obedience to the calling of God brings much more blessings not just to an individual but to many people even to generations. Through Noah's obedience, the world got a new start. Through Abraham's obedience, God makes a covenant with him that lasts for generations. Through obedience, faith is seen even much more and it's not just faith, but faith with actions.
Jeremiah:29.11
For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
God has a plan for each and every one of us and his plan is his will upon our lives. Living according to the will of God for our lives means that we know who we are in the LORD.
It means that we know our identity in Christ Jesus.
If we choose to do the will of God, no one can tell of the great things that may and will happen. A perfect example is Jesus who came to do the will of the father so that all mankind may be saved and made right with God the father. It may not be easy. It may not be fluid but one thing I know is that His grace is always sufficient and his mercies are new every morning.
Let us stop living like we belong to this world. Let us choose to follow Christ with everything we have for we were bought at a price and we no longer belong to ourselves. Let us not be lukewarm for it is written that whoever is neither hot nor cold shall be spat out.
We know the truth. We know the way. We know life. We know Jesus Christ. He's called us to be a kingdom of priests and through the power of the Holy Spirit and His authority, we can preach and bring forth the gospel of the good news.
We are the salt of this world. We are the light of the world. And since you who are the light cannot be hidden, then it's time that we let the light shine.
All this I tell you with a heart filled with love so that we may all get to grow in the knowledge and the wisdom that the Holy Spirit reveals to us through the written word of God. He is our helper. Be sure to ask for help where clarity lacks. He is a faithful God and He always delivers.
God loves you more than you could ever imagine. He did all this for us. He made a way to be close to us and now we share his glory and victory that Christ Jesus won for us when he died upon that cross. We are raised with him and His spirit now lives in us.
2 Corinthians 13:13
May the grace of our LORD Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all.
